Eleanor "Ellen" Floyd the widow of Benjamin Van Cleave. 1779 - John Edward Godby born in Virginia. 1817 - John marries Ellen Floyd in Shelby Co., KY Jan 12 1823 - Still in KY - Daughter Nancy Godby born. 1831 in Montgomery Co., IN -- William D. Godby born. 1850 - Richland Township Mahaska County, Iowa - John (62), Allen (26), Mary (19), William (19) and Sylvester (8 mo.) listed on census. 1856 Iowa State Census William Godby (22) IN, Ingaly J. (20) VA, Emery (1) IA, and Hariet (0) IA. 1870 US Census William Godby (39) IN, Ingala (33) VA, Emery (15), Harriet (14), John (13), Jesse B. (12), Emely A. (8), Mahala (7), U. S. Grant (4), Charlie (2), Olive (1). 1878 - Warren Godbey was born in Iowa. Somewhere after 1878 Emery, Maggie and Warren left for Oregon eventually settling in Portland, Multnomah County.
