Posted on: Goad Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Goad/202 Surname: ------------------------- I wrote a book on he Goadfs all over the U.S. so have a lot of data on Reuben and his children (about sixteen). He was born in ca 1794 in Va. and we think was a son of Thomas and Julia (Toler) Goad from Bedford County, Va. These Goads went to Maury County, Tenn. (then Williamson) ca 1804 with Robert Goad, Reuben's grandfather. Nancy Davis was Reuben's second wife and mother of most of his children. we do not know the name of his first wife. Reuben served in the Creek War under Gen. Andrew Jackson. He lived among the famous Polk family in Maury County from which came Pres. James K. Polk and Bishop and Gen. Leonidas Polk. In the early 1850s Reuben moved most of his family to Madison County, Ark.Some had already married in Maury and remained there.Reuben lived to be almost ninety year sold. He had a son-in-law killed on each side in the Civil War. One was a McCoy. (two daughters married McCoys, I believe). An interesting family . My mother was a Goad born in Virginia (1893-1997. Yes, 104 years old at her death). --- Ken Haas
