Some of my Goad's are from Texas but they orginally came from White Co AR. They lived in Central Texas around the McLennan,Coyrell Co areas then later moved to Wellington TX (Collingsworth Co). My great great father was Andrew Swick Goad and he married Alice Belle Coleman. I do not think the families are related but one never knows. I do know that Alice's family lived in Vernon TX. One of her brother's was a surveyor in that county. My grandfather, William A. Goad, moved to Mangum, Greer Co, OK about 1919 and became a mechanic. A few months later his parents and siblings came to live in Mangum. Mangum is located in the SW corner of Oklahoma. Wellington TX is within an hours drive of Mangum in the lower Texas panhandle. I also looked up Joy TX on the net. I found that it was a very small town. In 1914, there were on 23 people and in the 1930's, it grew to the number of 37 people. Here is the url that I found the information: http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/JJ/hlj13.html Do you know what sort of work the grandfather did? My great grandfather was a carpenter and we are trying to confirm that he worked for the railroad. Feel free to email me privatily. Linda Grennan Okla
