Ken: Doubtful it is the same man, but the following website will certainly confirm some sort of passion. A Robert Goad, Greene County, IN resident, was imprisoned May 1861, in the IN Southern (State) Prison for "assault with intent to kill" - then pardoned at the end of the Civil War. I am hoping to find data on this case when I am next in the area - I am intrigued by the fact that his prosecution and pardons mirror the start and near-end of the war. Look in: rootsweb.com/~ingreene/prison.htm. dp
