    2. This article was in the Evansville Courier 11/14/1988 100 Years Ago 1898 Boonville Ind. Malinda Goad applied for a pension as the widow of a Civil War soldier. Her husband Manoah Goad, was a member of the 12th Calvary. He was imprisoned at Andersonville and his death was caused by starvation he experienced there. The official who granted the pension said that Goad suffered more concentrated hardship than the entire Santiago outfit during the Spanish War.
