They were sons of Alexander H. Goad, Unfortunately Alex. is a Goad for which we are not certain as to his parentage, Judging by the nmes used, he came out of Foyd County, Va. and COULD be a son of James and Mry (Collier) Goad but this is not certsin.His wives were Elizabeth (ca 1831-1850s) and Joannah b. ca 1839. Alex, born ca 1812-13, died at age 88, Ballard was Ballard Preston Goad. Akex was in Nicholas County in 1950, Clay County from 1851 through 1880 at least. (censuses). We have chldren for Martin and Jeremiah but none for Ballard. He was only 22 in 1880 and there is no 1890 census. 1900 ??? Alex. at 68 had wife Joannah, 41. Three other children in household who were probanly Joannah.s from an earlier marriage but they had the Goad name on the census. -- Ken Haas
