    1. [GOAD-L] Looking for Joyce Goad
    2. Terry Confer
    3. I'm looking for a cousin that I've been told is also researching our Goad line. Is there a Joyce Goad, daughter of Felix, on this list? I'd love to compare notes and see if between the two of us we can link the family together. My mom (Kathy) is Felix's half-sister. Thanks! 3. According to Ora Belle McColman's book, "A Few of the Descendants of Charles Maberry/Mabry," Manuel Reynolds, s/o Nathaniel and Rhoda Oneal, b ca. 1855 in Carter Co., KY m. 3-15-1977, (I think she means 1877) in Carroll Co., VA. to Nancy Elizabeth Hylton, d/o Wm. Preston and Ruth Burnett Hylton. The book names a set of twin daughters, Margie and Mary. No birth date. She names another son, Alvonta D. Reynolds, could this be Alfonzo? b. ca. 1852, m. 9-17-1874 to Nancy Bryant. It does not say where. From a cousin ( granddaughter of E.T. Reynolds - another brother) I have received a great deal of information on the Reynolds. However, there is a lot missing. From the information I have it appears that in the mid to late 1800's that in Carroll Co, VA there were several main families. The Goad's are one of them. It appears that the children of one family married the children of another family so all their children became related by marriage and blood. There are two other Reynold's brothers (Manuel and Alfonso) that we don't know anything about. Since there was all these marriages between families I was hoping that someone in one of these families would have something. My great grandmother was Lourinda Nester. I have a book describing her journey from VA to IL. Thank you for taking the time to respond and if you can provide any more information I would appreciate it. > > > ==== GOAD Mailing List ==== > Have a Goad related dead end? 1. [GOAD-L] "Jim Fount" Goad
    2. Joyce -- Grr. I posted this once and lost it. Anyhow James Fountain was the son of Wiley Goad. Then it goes back to James,Spencer,Robert,Abraham.Abraham. I descend from Spencer also and from his brother Aaron. Parta Isabelle Goad was the daughter of Nathaniel and Rhoda (O'Neal) Reynolds. Partha's children were Flando Ellis, Arizona ("Arie"), Percy A. and Perna ("Pernie"). I assume you descend from one of those two sons. Wiley's father, also James Fountain, died coming home from the Civil War. He got as far as Christiansburg and died there. Two of his brothers also died in the war. In 1944, at age 77, Jim Fount married (2) Susan Bll Slate, a widow. I have dates, spouses, etc. if you need these. Dr. Michael Nestor did a lot of the research on these Carroll Goads. My mother (1893-1997) was born in Carroll. -- Ken

    1. [GOAD-L] Re: MARSHALL A GOAD
    2. Marshall, Bethel and Baxter were sons of James W. Goad. He died prior to 1893 and his widow, Mollie, married James Armstrong in 1893. She and the boys are on the 1900 Gibson County census., I probably have data on James W., the father, but will wait and see if you recerive this. --- Ken

    1. [GOAD-L] Back from trip... How to tell if message is from RootsWeb Board
    2. Mike Goad
    3. Hi all, Got back from our trip just a few hours ago and have been catching up on e-mail. A sure-fire way (for now) to tell if the messages are from the RootsWeb/Ancestry/MyFamily combined message board is that it should have a line in the beginning of the e-mail that says: Sender: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Mike P.S. About the trip.... Was a good trip. Made it to Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's Post Office, the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia. In New York, we took the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan, the Liberty-Ellis Ferry to Ellis Island (went past Liberty Island, but not ashore), and rode the subway and walked the streets to Central Park, Macy's, and Times Square. On Ellis Island on Thursday waiting in line for the ferry back to Manhattan, Karen noticed that the teenager in front of us had her wallet open and that she had an Arkansas drivers license. So of course I asked..., turned out that she, her mother and sister were all from Russellville which is only seven miles from where we live and that her husband is one of the local doctors (he was back at the hotel with another daughter who was sick).
