Does anyone know of an extensive Gedcom that covers the descendents of Abraham and Catherine Goad? I have searched without success, and it is becoming a pain to copy and paste from websites, or manually type from books. Any help would be appreciated.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kIZ.2ACEB/1071.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I gathered these notes many years ago and no longer remember the sources so take this only as a guide and nor as "gospel". Richard Goard (1618-1683) of Roxbury, Mass. Came to America in 1635, married 1639 to Phebe Howes. She died 1678. Their children included five daughters Hannah 1641, Mary 1644, Phebe 1646, Sarah 1649, Lydia 1653. Sons were John 1643, Joseph 1647 who died at age eight months, Joseph (again) 1651, Benjamin 1654 , died soon after birth, Benjamin (again), executed at age eighteen, crime not specified by my sources. JOHN 1643. Joseph II (1651-1691) of Roxbury and Hadley. married Ann Chaplin in 1681. Had four daughters, no sons. Ann 1682, Sarah 1684 , died in a few months, Mary 1687, Sarah (again) 1691. This leaves only John as a son to have possibly continued the GOARD/GOAD name. He is given as John GOAD. He is of the right age to have been the father of Abraham of Richmond County, Va. BUT - no one has ever shown any evidence that this John Goad ever left Massachusetts or that Abraham was born there. In the absence of any such evidence, the parentage of Abraham remains unresolved.. --- Ken

Her name was Elizabeth, not Martha. And Hammack was spelled that way in that era in Pittsylvania.I may have a date for the marriage but cannot find it right now. I now find a reference that says it was May, 1784. This referernce has "Hammock". Elizabeth Goad was the daughter of William and Tabitha Goad who had at least ten children. Several went to Smith County, Tenn. in ca 1805. Even before Pittsylvania, the Goads and Hammacks livved in Richmond County, Va, What data did you have that stated John and Martha Hammack ??? --- Ken

    2. 8--9-01 TO: ALL Would iit be possible to indicate a source (and possibly an estimate of price) for some of these books being mentioned in the various questions/answers. I usually make it a point to try to do this where I can or indicate that the book is no longer available {Ex: "The Forebearers (sic) and Descendants of William Taylor and Mahala Cromwell " by Carrie Cathern Carte Carrie has passed on and McClain Publishing Co. in Parsons, WV lost their stored copies in a flood a few years ago. I mention this because it has several Goads listed) BUT Carrie's data does contain a few errors!) So, check, check, check!} I know that many are likely to be either sole personal copies or even out of print but I am sure that some might be interested in obtaining copies of some of these works if they are available. The great success of this thing lies in the willingness of almost everybody to give somebody else a push when they get "stuck" somewhere. I think this is because everybody has been "stuck" at one time or another. I figure in this because my mother was a Goad (dau. of John Goad and Mae Lewis in Roane Co, WV.) The 'tatiebelle' resulted in AOL refusing to accept names until the cat came by! AOL accepted HERS! John Casey Summerfield, FL
