Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kIZ.2ACEB/1067.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Nola --- We are talking about TWO James F. Goads. The one that married Mary Ann Semones was born ca 1827-29. He died coming home from the war.He was a son of Spencer and Patience (Dalton) Goad who lost their three youngest sons in the war.Neither were alive to suffer those tragedies. So far as I know, Fountain was not this one's middle name although it could have been. Hw was called "Blacvk Jim". The one named James Fountain Goad ("Jim Fount") was much younger. He was born 1877 and was a son of Wiley Goad of James of Spencer. Yet another James Fountain Goad was born in 1840, sonn of Reuben of Aaron of Robert. He married (1) Hannah Webb (2) Columbia Sandifer. Many families used the same name repeatedly so one must pay close attention to birth dates to know which is meant. -- Ken

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kIZ.2ACEB/1074.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I assume tou have Fanny married Allman Short 17 Jan 1836 Nancy m. Isaac Bonds 15 Feb 1815 Anne m. Aaron Ronerts 6 Sept 1815 These two seem to early too be children of John and Ailey . I will have to do more checking as I have not looked at hese for awhile. Nancy m. Elijah Spemcer 16 Sept 1830, daughhter of John Goard. Wit: Marvel Spencer. So thjis Nanct was John's daughter so the other one was not. Rachel P. m. Oliver Branch 15 Nov 1836. Also almost certainbly John's. Rachel for John's mother, wife of Charles, we believe. All these marriages were in Patrick County. So I think it is safe to say Jesse, Nancy Spencer, Frances ("Fanny" Short and Rachel Branch were siblings. These Patrick Goads osed the spelling "Goard" rather consistently. They all had "GOAD" ancestry. My mother was born in Carroll County, Virginia in 1893. She said eople generally clled them "Goard" although they always used the Goad spellking as did all the numerous Goads in Carroll County. The 1850 Bedford County census would likely have some of these daughters of John nd Ailey listed as I think they were there with John in 1840. If Goads married Bowmans, it must have been much later. There were lots of Bowmans in Carroll County. -- Ken --- Ken

Opposite sides of the same coin, I suppose.

The best way to do this is by entering everyone's individual information. This is also the best way to catch other people's mistakes. I received some information from a fellow Goad researcher that had one couple marrying at 5 years old and another couple married 3 years before the bride was born!! Good luck!
