Goads born about the same time.Doug Mullins gives data on the one who was a son of Joel Goad.. Another born ca 1850 (either 4 mos. or 9 mos old on 1850 census).was a son of James and Mary (Tounbs) Goad. James was thwe son of Robert, Jt. and Polly Goad and James and Mary and son William J. are living with them in 1850. James was the youngest son of Robert and Mary. (Polly). He was born ca 1831, his wife a year earlier. James entered the Confederate Army in 1861 and died the same year. Many country boys died of disease early in the war as a result of camp-life and exposure to diseases for which they had no immunity. There was little real fighting in 1861. However, this is speculation as lots of little skirmishes took many lives. I think this is the family for which you are searching, Debbie. I wrote a book on the Goads - everywhere. --- Ken.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kIZ.2ACEB/28.47.232.233.255.1 Message Board Post: I'm not sure, but from the information I have I don't show her as a daughter of William J. Goad. For one, he didn't marry until 1-6-1870 to a Mathenia Haywood and thier son William Goad was born 10-10-1870. So, if Mary was born in May 1870 then that would be impossible for William J. Goad to be the father. I'm searching for a Mary Goad. But, she was the mother of William J. Goad and she was married to James Goad. I have no idea what her maiden name was or dates for either James or Mary Goad. Would love to have them if anyone knows. Thanks.
