Goade that married one Eva Grace Evans about 1916. They had one son born in Commerce, OK in 1917. After that, I don't know what happened to Harry. Eva divorced him before 1920 and moved back to Cass County, Mo with her son and eventually remarried into my family. I am just trying to find Harry and his kin for me and the son who is today 84 years old and enjoys playing golf. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Am looking for any information (parents, descendants, etc.) on GILBERT GOAD in southwestern Missouri. He married ELIZABETH HARLOW, 18 July 1878 in Lawrence Co., MO. Her parents were MARY/POLLY JENNINGS and ALEXANDER HARLOW. Earlier, in 1872, Lawrence Co. probate records show that he purchased a colt and saddle from the estate of his wife-to-be's uncle F. M. JENNINGS. When her grandfather, ROBERT JENNINGS, died in 1884, GILBERT GOAD was in possession of Jennings' "old flint rock rifle gun". Jennings and family had come from Grayson/Carroll Co., VA in the 1830's, and I am wondering how/if Gilbert Goad might connect to the Grayson/Carroll Goad's. In case anyone is wondering why I posted the info on James O. GOAD of 1880 Grayson Co., TX--I found this information several years ago (and have a photocopy of the census record) during my (heavy sigh) still futile search for the family of Martha Ellen GOAD, my ggm, born 16 Jan. 1862, Van Buren (Crawford Co.), AR. Her place of birth and birthdate were recorded in the family Bible. Her parents, according to her own information recorded in the family Bible, were Jim GOAD and Mollie SHOCKLEY. Unfortunately, I have no other information about them other than their names. Martha Ellen married James Henry HALL 21 Dec. 1880 in Grayson Co., TX. By 1888, the couple had moved to Indian Territory (OK). Who was Martha Ellen living with at the time of her marriage? Wish I knew. Or someone could tell me. (The only other GOADs I know of in the proximity was the aforementioned James O. GOAD of my previous post.) How did she get to TX? When? With whom? More about this in a minute. The 1900 Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, census shows Martha Ellen was born in AR (which I already knew from the family Bible), and both parents born in TN. Contrast this with the 1910 Atoka Co., OK, census that shows her father born in AR and her mother in TN. Moving right ahead to the 1920 census, her father was born in the United States (go figure) and her mother in TN. I found a Martha E. GOAD, age 8, born in AR, that I think might be my ggm, in the 1870 Van Buren, Crawford Co., AR, census. At least the name, age, and place are right. Problem is she is not enumerated with her parents but, rather, she is in the household of W.H. GILL, whoever he is. Interestingly, in addition to Mr. Gill's own family, there are four others enumerated in the household: Elizabeth SHOCKLEY, age 21(?), blind, born AR; J.W. TALLY, age 11, born AR; and Felinda BALLOW, age 12, born AR. The presence of a SHOCKLEY in the household also leads me to believe this is my ggm since her mother's family name was SHOCKLEY. Likely, this Elizabeth is a relative, maybe a much older sister or cousin. Sorry this is so long, but if anyone has any information about a Jim GOAD and Mollie SHOCKLEY who had a daughter Martha Ellen GOAD, I would so very much appreciate your help. Hmmm, to muddy the waters a bit...... The 1880 Grayson Co, TX, census has listed: James O. Goad, age 42, born in TN, and both parents born in TN. Mollie (wife--whose "real" name likely was Mary since Mollie was usually a nickname in that day), age 33, born in TN, and probably both parents born in TN (I say this judging by the way the enumerator recorded information for others because he did not use ditto marks.) Salada S., age 12, son, born in TX. Cibolo L., son, age 9, born TX. Balboia C., son, age 6, born TX. Celona/Selona (uncertain which because of a writeover) O., dau, age 2, born TX. Mirah/Mitah L., dau, age 5/12 (borb Dec.) in TX. Also in the same household is Charles E. WADE, age 24, no relationship listed, born MO, both parents VA. James O, Goad was about forty-five or so then and Mary was the late 30s so they could well be the parents of your James. Just possibly another generation could be between with a son born ca 1885 but that is pushing things. > In the same Joy cemetery are Robert S. Cash (1854-1923) and wife Mary M. (1859-1925). A son is Andrew (1899-1902) , a daughter Effie (1891-1893) and a likely son Robert L. (1884-1949) with wife Maggie born 1886.
