She was living with her children, Joseph, David, Margaret, Frank and William J. Elder, as well as Wiley Goad Jr, who was one year old. Caroline was 37 and Wiley was 52. Does anyone know of this family? Thanks. Shirley Hale shhale@earthlink.net

    1. [GOAD-L] List Administrator message about viruses
    2. Mike Goad
    3. Hi all, Messages are appearing on the internet that have viruses in them and appear to come from various legitimate sources, including RootsWeb. In reality, the source address is counterfeit. The message below is from RootsWeb Review Mike Goad Dover, Arkansas KLEZ WORM WIGGLES ACROSS THE NET. No, RootsWeb.com is not sending you a virus or worm in an attachment -- no matter what these "forged" addresses with RootsWeb name in it say. Be sure your anti-virus software is up-to-date and that you use it. Never open any e-mail attachments unless you have confirmed with the sender that she or he did indeed send it to you for a reason. Do not assume that the attachment came from where it says -- these sophisticated worms are able to forge addresses and they are fooling lots of people. Some even claim to be "worm removal tools." Don't believe them. The Klez worm has been able to spread because of a security vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer (browser) and because many people do not update their browser and download these patches. Don't risk the loss of your personal and genealogical data: Update your browser now: [2-line URL]: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ q290108/default.asp/ Most antivirus vendors, such as Symantec, McAfee and Sophos, offer Klez patches. John L Goad was married to Rachel Malissa SARAH Easter Dobbs - born April 13, 1874 - Georgia (probably Felton, GA) - Died 1960's, Maryland. I don't know if the birth places for John and SARAH are born in the areas I said up above or if they are turned around. This came from a relative of mine and she said she was doing this by memory so I don't know how much of this is factual. I know this isn't much to go on but hope it helps.

I have data on a Ephriam Henry Goad, a UNION army veteran from southern Tennnesse, who, after the war, located in Whitfield County, Georgia (old Cherokee territory before it was stolen). He had children born from 1868 until 1895 including a John born in 1889. How does that date and locatuon fit ?? He was pehaps the grandson of a man named HIRAM from Monroe County, Tenn. His parents were William and Martha Jane Goad. Ephriam named childrern Sidney, Nancy (Coyle), Martha (Bruce), Nannie (Atwood), Nettie (Fox), Jimmie (Long). Hattie,Spencer and Georgia. Did any of these names carrty down or ring any bells ?? His wife was Tennessee Elizabeth Cagle. There were very few Goads in early Georgia . Do you know when your John Goad was born or where ? Or where he lived ? -- Ken

I would appreciate any info you may have and would be glad to share any I have with you. I didn't know that my great-grandfather's mother was Cherokee. Only that there was indian blood in our family but not what kind of indian. I look forward to hearing from you. Dolly

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kIZ.2ACEB/1104.1.1.1 Message Board Post: James -- I found a famiy group sheet for Ayers Goad. Among his children were these - Frances Goad b. 20 Jan 1817 in N.Car. married John H. Jones in Anderson County, Tenn. (Ayers' father Abraham died there in 1816). Aaron Goad m. Frances Jones 28 July 1833 in Greene County, Ind. Littlebury Goad m. Martha Jane Jones in 1833 Indiana.(same day as Aaron I believe -or nearly). Peyton Goad m. Sophia Jones 11 June 1837 in Greene. Although the internet has Edith Czad or Cazad as the wife of Ayers, we now think she was a Collier, daughter of Aaron and Elizabeth (Goad) Collier of Grayson and Lee Counties, Va.. The Goads were not of Indian descent but the Jones were (Cherokee). I have several references to that. I have a family sheet for the parents of the above Jones but annot locate it right now.(very large family). Some of the Jones Jones who stayed in Tenn. ended up in Fannin County, Georgia. You might type in "Fannin" on the Jones Forum and see what you get. Jefferson T. Jones deserted a family in Ky., went to Indiana and fathered children by three Goad women, only one who he married. He was likely a brother to the above Jones. He had three children by one Goad, then married her cousin !! One story is that the Jones hid out in W.N.Car. to avoid the "Trail of Tears". The dates and location sound reasonable I'll try to locate more but it would help if you would pose specific questions. --- Ken

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kIZ.2ACEB/1105.1 Message Board Post: Almost none of my records extend later than 1900. However, the only Goad family that consistently added an "e" to the name resided in extreme southwest Missouri from about 1830. They were descendants of Isham and Nancy (Reynolds) Goad of Virginia and White County, Tenn. Isham died there ca 1815. Nancy re-masrried to a Benjmin Turner. I think it is this area and this family that is most likely ancestors to your Harry. You might try the 1900 census for Taney County, Mo. Of course, any Goad family might choose to add an "e" but almost none did except the SW Mo. ones. Also by 1900 plus, the Taney County famly had likely spread to other areas. I believe there is a separate "Goade Gen Forum" but it has very few messages.as all were really Goads originally. --- Ken
