    1. [GOAD-L] More material on line... and more coming
    2. Mike Goad
    3. Hi all, Ken Haas has new information which I've added to his "Additions and Corrections" pages at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikegoad/the_goads_a_frontier_family.htm I've also started set of pages for cemetery photos after Alicia (Goad) Anderson sent me some photos. They are located at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mikegoad/cemetery_photos.htm and I will add more as others send them to me. Both of the above as well as other material is available at the site home page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikegoad/goad.htm . I am well on the way of creating a set of pages for the book, "The Charles P. Goad and Collateral Branches" by Edwin E. Stephens. This book was published in the 1950s without copyright notice. The law at that time was such that material automatically went into the public domain if it was published without copyright notice or registration with the Copyright Office. (This was applicable until the 1970s... I have become fairly knowledgable on copyright issues and have a page on the topic at http://www.cswnet.com/~sbooks/genealogy/copyright/copyright.htm ) Since it is in the public domain, I will be making the information available on line in a "hyperlinked format."

Thanks for all of your hard work to keep us all advised and up to date. You have certainly been a great help to me. This is the most informative list on the Web There are several Goad's burried at Tennessee Colony Texas which is about 15 miles or so from me. It is believed they came here from Tennessee in the early to mid 1800's. Some of them married into a Harris Family. Some of the Harris Family still live here. I am not able to inventory the Cemetery, but if anyone is interested in the Goad's who are buried there. I believe a lady by the name of Ann Wolverton could tell you what their grave stone reads. 2. Jim Crownover
    3. After cleaning out my folk's attic, I am in possession of my baby book. It shows my Goad Linege as: Grandmother - Clarice Goad b- May 5, 1900, Delta Co., TX Great Grandfather- Charles Lee Goad, B. Nov 21, 1871, Powhattan, Arkansas M. Emily Salome McFarland, Cooper, Texas GGGrandfather, Emanuel Goad married Mary Ann Winchell. I knew my Ggrandfather, Charlie Lee, as he died at the age of 96 in 1967. The Brown's Mule chewing tobacco finally got to him. The entries in my book should be fairly accurate, since my ggrandfather, Charles was very much alive when I was Born in 1945. According to an old letter from Ken Haas, I think that Emanuel's father was Ephriam Goad. Does anybody have anything to add to this? Jim Crownover Searching- Goad, Roe, Crownover, Killebrew, Chunn

    1. [GOAD-L] Re: Richard Goode
    2. Mike and Karen Goad
    3. Hi, This appears to be information from Virginia Cousins by G. Browne Goode. That book is based on the John Good of Whitby and his descendants, as I recall. I have a page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikegoad/html/tree0011.htm on Richard Goode and Sarah Parker that I have just added material to. Virginia Cousins does include the following: RICHARD GOODE, son of Richard Goode of Cornwall, was an immigrant from England like his brother John. Family tradition states that there were two brothers, who settled first upon the "eastern shore" and afterwards came to the James River. Whether or not John and Richard Goode were for a time residents of Accomac, we shall probably never know; nor is it known that Richard Goode accompanied his brother to Barbados. It is possible that he may rather have come to Virginia by way of New England. One Richard Goode was juryman at a court in Massachusetts in 1646 who may have been the same as there are no subsequent traces of him in the more northern colony. In 1670, Richard Goode received a grant of 250 acres of land in Virginia, "between the Chickahominy River and the Great Swamp." This would appear from the land register, to have been in the old Rappahannock county, abolished in 1690, and included in part in Essex, Richmond, Caroline, and Spottsylvania counties. The records of this region, were in great part destroyed during the civil war, but a portion of them is still preserved at Tappahannock, and has enabled us to connect to Richard Goode, the emigrant, with some, at least, of his descendants. He died about 1719, at which time, July 19, his will is recorded. He would appear, therfore, to have been younger than his brother John. (Note: the 1719 date of death is likely that of his son, Richard, Jr. - MpG) Mike At 07:00 AM 1/7/01 -0800, Donna Bogue wrote: >I get new postings for WDC GenWeb and I got this one. >Does anyone know if this is the family that is suspected of being the line >of our >Abraham Goad b. 2. Mike and Karen Goad
    3. Hi all, It's been a while since I posted much new material on line. I still have quite a bit, much of which I hope to be posting in this new year. As well, I am posting material on-line for Kenneth Haas. New material: In 1995, Kenneth Haas published his revised book, "The Goads - A Frontier Family." Ken has been sending me "additions and corrections to the 1995 book." These are available at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikegoad/the_goads_a_frontier_family.htm Last year I started posting Family Group Sheets from the research of Wanda June Goad Worland. Over the last week, I have posted 75 more of these, for a total of 200 (only 683 to go). A note from Ken Haas on http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikegoad/tribute.htm gives some background on his work with June and another researcher, Ruth Trousdale. The index for the Family Group Sheets is linked from the same page. I plan to have more material posted soon, including some cemetery photos sent to me by Alicia Goad Anderson. Mike
