Robbie, I am a little confused. First below you state one of the problem records is one of a James M. Gotcher (specific interest of mine since I am trying to find the Unknow Goatcher who was married to Elizabeth Smithee Goatcher. However, when I go to the web site the problem record is a John Gotcher. It is really no problem but would like any and all assistance trying to find the unknown goatcher for he would be my Great Great Grandfather. I have signed up for an account today and will utlize the web site as soon as I confirm e-mail. I am researching the Parris family name (www.parris.co.uk) and as a result of this research an adoptee has contacted me called Steven Brown, he tells me his natural mother was a Margaret J Parris born 1928 in Eastbourne, the only Margaret J Parris I can find married a Charles P Goacher in 1952 at Chanctonbury, West Sussex, England According to the 2003 Electoral Roll, there was a Margaret Goacher, residing in a Nursing home, Findon, West Sussex, but that nursing home is no more. Does anyone have any information on Charles Goacher and Margaret Parris. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Mark Epsom, Surrey

I'm off on my travels this weekend, I'll speak to you all, and hopefully read some postings when I get back. I am sure some of you have a discovery to crow about. I have discovered that my son in law is also my eighth cousin!! Bev Pease Listowner.
Hello everyone. This is just to let you know that I will be overseas and not looking at anything from the list from mid Feb to mid May. The list has been very quiet. Please do post, the list is what you make it, and we are all interested in updated interests and finds. Even items of general interest about ancestors and where and how they lived, or tips for research will be welcomed, but NOT virus warnings as everyone should be protecting themselves with a firewall and anti-virus software. A reminder as well not to be too reliant on the IGI, usefull as it is. I recently had to completely trash someone's tree, as nicely as I could, as it was based on Ancestral File entries, and two men with the same name had been confused. As a result my direct ancestors were recorded as being born and living Kentucky USA when I had seen the original entries of their births, marriages and deaths in Ringmer East Sussex England. Best Wishes and a very belated Happy New Year. Bev.
Looking for a connection with anyone who may have further information on the following: Ellen GOACHER (16yrs) who married Mark LONGHURST (32 yrs, widower) 17 Dec. 1887 at the Church of England in Henfield. Ellen's father is given as Thomas GOACHER deceased. The witnesses are Jesse GOACHER & Amy GOACHER. Helene Murray Bairnsdale Australia jmurray@net-tech.com.au
Testing as I sent a message which didn't get through, please let me know if you get this. Bev Pease.
I thought it about time I reposted my interests, especially as I have even more names now. Apologies to those who get it more than once. Sussex:- Bunby after 1900, any; Brooker before 1760, Isfield; Ayling, Chichester aera; Scardeville and variants, Chichester area; Kennett East Dean, Chichester; Newnham, Isfield, Ringmer, Framfield, Chiddingly, before 1850; Shadrick and variants, Isfield, Ringmer and area, before 1760; Gocher; Hemsley, family of Herbert c. 1790 back. Hants:- Pease after 1890. Oxfordshire:- Pease; Shelton; Turvery; Brain. Bucks:- Bunby, Stoke Poges area, Willis, Pease. Greater London:- Brooks, Dove, Newnham, Rawson, Potter, Smith, Willis, Hemsley, Steel. Norfolk, Stearne. Any cousins out there? Bev Pease.
Hi Trina Your Ann is a poser! As you probably know the IGI and VRI have no Goatcher / Gilbert marriage; nor does the Sussex Marriage Index which contains most pre-1837 Sussex marriages. I have a large database of Goacher (and variants) entries - some 15,000 - which includes marriages post-1837 from many Sussex parishes. I don't have any specific Goatcher / Gilbert marriage. Do you know when Charles & Ann started their family? Was Clara Kate their first child? The GRO Marriage index contains 10 marriages for Ann Goacher (or variants) from the start of registration in 1837 and before 1861. Only 3 of these are in the south of England. One, in 1840, I can positively identify. The other two are: 1856 Jun Qtr / Ann Goatcher / Worthing 2b 417 1860 Jun Qtr / Anne Goatcher / Worthing 2b 448 I don't know whether either of these might be the marriage you are looking for, but Clapham was in the Worthing Registration District. If you CAN find Ann's father's name, and perhaps her age, from a marriage entry then I can probably give you details of her baptism and family. I have many 'unmarried off' Anns in my database, but with records for nearly 70 Anns I need a bit more to work on! Best wishes for the hunt.
