Hello New to the list. I have done some extensive coverage on my descendants in New Zealand and Australia as I'm writing a family history book. I can't seem to find the correct information and would appreciate any help please. I'm now looking for William OSBORNE and Sarah STRONG (perhaps STRANG), parents of my gr.gr.grandfather George OSBORNE. William OSBORNE is listed as a Traveller on George's Marriage Certificate and other subsequent documentation I lose William OSBORNE on the Census of 1851 if my researching is correct. The only documentation I have that shows George's mothers name is his second marriage that took place in Australia and here she is named as Sarah STRONG. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Family info I've been given suggests the following but has not been validated: Sarah was born c.1806 in Combe Florey, Somerset. Although the 1851 wedding of George and Harriet documents that William's occupation is Traveller, the 1851 Census states that Sarah is a Widow. 1851 Census saw the OSBORNES living at 7 Chatterton Place, St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol GLC ISSUE: Emily, George, Harriet (or Hannah), Mary, Charles, Jefsee (or Jesse - male) This family were either Hatters, Hat Trimmers, etc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- George and Sarah's son George left Bristol GLC and emmigrated to Australia c.1853. (ship not confirmed, but maybe "Protector" or "Caroline Chisholm" ) George's wife Harriet OSBORNE (nee JEFFERIES) and their son William Beaumont OSBORNE sailed to Australia in 1855 on the "Morning Star" (confirmed information) George was born 10th June 1828 in Bristol GLC (date not confirmed but all other documentation states place of birth as Bristol. Harriet was born September 1831 in Bristol, GLC (Father John JEFFERIES and Mother Harriet BEAUMONT) George and Harriet were married 1st November 1851 in the Parish Church in the Parish of St.Paul, Bristol GLC. (I have their Marriage Cert). Their place of residence is listed as Wilson Gardens They both died in Australia............... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Happy researching and sharing" Sandra Murphy Auckland New Zealand NZ Society of Genealogists #19772 Researching OSBORNE, BARTON, MEAKIN, GOWTY, RICKETTS, JEFFERIES, JEFFREYS, BEAUMONT, BIRRELL, MCGUIRE If you have received this message in error please notify the sender and delete message immediately, including attachments.
