    2. Hi I've been reading the correspondence on the Engineer Volunteers. Someone said the Royal Engineers were those who dug the trenches etc. I think they might object to that description. The Royal Pioneer Corps were the 'labourers' in the army often right at the front. The Royal Engineers were highly skilled and would not be happy at the trenches bit. The Royal Pioneer Corps was disbanded in 1993. Colin
