    2. Dene and Peter Gill
    3. Hi there, I have tried your look-up exchange page because of my brick wall. Unfortunately, I couldn't see anyone on the list who would be likely to be able to help me. - Perhaps you could re-direct my note? I am unable to reach Records Offices. My Husband's 2 x Gt. Grandfather was William Gill, a Master Ironfounder who spent his adult life in the Limehouse district of London where he employed 4 men at his Ironfoundery. On Census Records, William consistently says he was born in Stroud and that his wife Elizabeth was born Littleworth. It appears he was born abt. 1807 Stroud. William & Elizabeth's first child was John, born Lambeth abt. 1828. In the 1841 Census there was yet another John in the household shown as being aged 15 and we suspect a mistake somewhere along the line. - this older John may have been a Brother or other relative of William. By the 1881 Census, Elizabeth had died and William was living with a son. I did write generally to the Gloucestershire rootsweb pages and two people suggested that the couple shown on the 1881 Census as born abt. 1806 Moreton-in-the-Marsh could be mine. - Not only was Elizabeth dead by that time, but this William Gill had a wife called Eliza. The family obviously kept in touch with their roots in Stroud as two of their Sons married sisters, Selina and Hannah Gardiner. - Their Father was Paul Hawkins Gardiner. There seems to be next to nothing on the I.G.I. for Stroud.
