Hi Janet, I have got his will it did state that if his wife died or married then it was to be auctioned off, I found in the paper two advertisements for the auction which gave the solicitors and auctionier name but the record office does not have anything on the names, I have the 1839 tithe map of sandhurst which shows the farm, house and other land, and I have the 1831/2 electoral roll disc for gloucester and he is on that. I dont know if I will find anything about the farm. I thought someone might be able to tell me where to look next, would it be worth looking at the deeds but they did only state sandhurst. jenny >From: "Janet Booth" <janbooth@dsl.pipex.com> >Reply-To: gloucester@rootsweb.com >To: <gloucester@rootsweb.com> >Subject: Re: [GLS] thanks >Date: Mon, 5 Mar 2007 11:03:56 -0000 > >Jenny, > >Have you tried his will which is available from Gloucestershire Archives. >It is listed on their database as reference 1851/211. Hi Jenny If you can get to the Gloucestershire Archives, you could try the Land tax records. Assuming they, or most of them, have survived for Sandhurst, they covered the period from 1780 to 1832 and would give the name of the owner in the early period and owner and occupier towards the end of the time.
