This is of interest to me as well if I could have a copy please. General request for info on Steels. My ggfather Stephen Steel born in Bridgewater 1849 but on 1861 census for Gatcombe near Awre His father Charles from Blakeney with Awre christened 27/2/1814. I went to see the villages March 1/3rd and discovered that there was a Samuel Steel graverobber-stole body from graveyard with a group of friends 1733 and so I am even more keen to go to Record office! Any info or people hunting same family would be appreciated > Message Received: Mar 20 2007, 11:54 AM > From: gloucester-request@rootsweb.com > To: gloucester@rootsweb.com > Cc: > Subject: GLOUCESTER Digest, Vol 2, Issue 193 > > Does any member of GFHS have Journal 108 to hand, please. > > According to the index, the surname STEEL is mentioned on page 30; I > would be grateful to receive the details. > > David Steel > Adelaide, South Australia > >

It was regarding documents relating to Ann STEEL of Bromsberrow in the 1750's. In the 1760's there was a Samuel STEEL in Coleford, not a million miles from Awre. He was a surgeon - I wonder if he was keen to improve his dissection skills. May I ask, Paula, how you came across this information. David Steel Adelaide, South Australia
