Hi Barbara, I can't help with parish records for the Hands family of Pebworth, but you may be interested in the following extract, concerning Pebworth, from my book 'The Vale of Evesham: A Pictorial History' (1997): On the eastern edge of the Vale is Pebworth where St Peter's church and the houses nearby are set on a ridge. The church dates from the 13th century and has a variety of interesting features which include an octagonal 15th-century font and a Jacobean pulpit. In recent times a full peal of bells has been restored. Running down hill from the church are two roads, Front Street and Back Lane which, joining with Friday Street at the bottom, form a circuit around the village. In Shakespeare's time, Friday Street is said to have contained the village's only inn. It is believed that this street with its thatched and timber-framed cottages gained its name because it was a regular Friday meeting place for the playwright and his drinking companions. There is a quatrain thought to have been composed by Shakespeare, after a night of drinking in Bidford-on-Avon. On this occasion the bard is reputed to have said that he had had enough, having drank with: 'Piping Pebworth, Dancing Marston, Haunted Hillborough, Hungry Grafton, Dodging Exhall, Papist Wixford, Beggarly Broom and Drunken Bidford.'
