    2. Hi Gary Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I probably worded my email slightly wrong, I meant there isn't one local to me (and I don't know of any new ones, if indeed new ones ever open up? - which I doubt). They're few and far between in the UK I'm afraid. Regards Simone. -----Original Message----- From: adslmllu@tpg.com.au To: gloucester@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 19 Mar 2007 7:47 AM Subject: Re: [GLS] Fwd: Request for Help Please I'm a bit behind here but if you want to know where your nearest Family History Centre is go to www.familysearch.org & look on the left hand side of the page after the search facility & you will see how to find out where the nearest one is to you. 3. That is a shame as they are a very useful tool. In the not to distant future the LDS will close a lot of their Family History Centres as they will not be needed. The LDS are going to make these films available in digitised form & there will be no cost involved in using them except, like now, you will have to buy yourself a computer & have access to the internet. sim8ne@aol.com wrote: > Thanks for the reply. > > Sorry, I probably worded my email slightly wrong, I meant there isn't one local to me (and I don't know of any new ones, if indeed new ones ever open up? - which I doubt). 3. Many of the public libraries in the US are able now to get LDS information in a way. It's not all available. 3. Yes my local LDS Centre here in Melbourne closed at Xmas - no real explanation - but inference was that with the use of home computers they wish us to subscribe and pay particulary Ancestry - most inconvenient as I had been a user of their film hire facility for many years. Had better start saving. 3. Pat there are still quite a few LDS centres in the suburbs of Melbourne. Look at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/FHC_Results.asp?FHCCountry=Australia&FHCStateProv=Victoria&FHCCounty=&FHCCity=Melbourne&submit=Search And there is a list of them.
