The birth should have been registered but it is entirely possible that due to WWI, it didn't actually happen, as you surmise. It may also be that it never reached the GRO or was missed out of the GRO index. I take it that you've checked the September and December quarters of 1915? Being so late in June, it's possible that the birth was in the next quarter. The War may have pushed it over into the December one. Since you know where the birth was, you could try the relevant local register office to see if they have a record of the birth. Another possibility is that the birth might have been registered in a completely different place than the one expected. -- Charani (UK)
