I've checked online and it looks like your friend has been offered a special version of the genealogy programme, Family Tree Maker. FTM had a product tie in with the first series of the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? Looks like it was marketed by the firm Serif. Serif Extra is where they advertise special offers. Their current website doesn't have the Family Tree Maker programme advertised, I found it by going to the cache. BTW he isn't being offered a discount. I'm not familiar with FTM, but it is popular. Your friend might like to try some of the free download programmes first ( eg. Legacy or PAF), as he has already entered information into Genes Reunited, he can transfer it to the new programme via gedcom.
