Laura I have had a good look on Ancestry.co.uk checking the immigration to US, US census and everything else trying variations of both first and second name. Sorry, I couldn't find anything maybe someone else will have more luck. Maybe you will need to find out more about the army, what if he died whilst in millitary service?
