I feel I should know this but ... to try and find out if a person who died in 1927 left a will is it necessary to go to the Records Office in Gloucester? This chap was a well known butcher in Stroud and according to the family he shot himself (no known reason). I suppose it is likely that the cause of death was "accidental". It is likely there was a mention of this incident in the local paper but again, I don't know how to go around finding out if there was. Any advice please? Margery
Margery, Have you tried a search for the will on :- http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/genealogy/Search.aspx Can't help with a quick fix for the paper report, suggest it may be a case of trawling through the local paper, whatever that is - Gloucestershire Echo - maybe ?
