Hi Geoff, To find possible information on the mother -- if you had access to the CD of Bristol Diocese Baptismal Registers Vols 1 to 7 Index and Transcripts 1813-1837, which is available on CD from Bristol & Avon Family History Society (www.bafhs.org.uk), you could look through the transcribed parish registers for Pucklechurch and surrounding parishes to find out if there were any likely children called Emily baptized around 1829 or within a few years of that date.
