Hi Jackie, I didn't realize that you were from Cheltenham, yourself, though I should have realized that as you are researching the CLIFFORD family from there! My own recollections of the Pilley area is that in 1967 I lived briefly in Leckhampton Road and used to walk around to Pilford Avenue in Pilley to see a friend with whom I had become acquainted the previous year at a residential course in St. Anne's House, Pittville, Cheltenham. (The course was a kind of finishing course open to teenage girls in Gloucestershire schools.) More than 40 years later I still have that friend though until I totted up the years, just now, I didn't realize it was long ago. I've just looked at my ancient A-Z of Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Gloucester Newport and Weston super Mare and can see that the area of Pilley is clearly marked near that of Leckhampton.
