"With consent of friends" would be referring to a Quaker marriage I woud think! >From memory- The congregation or gathering of friends at the service to witness the fact that this couple have agreed to marriage. There is never a service as such at a quaker church. They wait for the spirit to descend on someone who will then make a speach prayer or whatever. Joy
