    3. Henry LLEWELLYN married Sarah Ann GILLMAN on 12.9.1881 - Henry being aged 21 years with father's name given as George of Stroud. I am unable to find a Henry born 1860/62 Stroud - I have looked on free BMD, IGI and Ancestry "Vital" records with no success. There is a Henry Griffiths LLEWELLYN born 1862 St. Georges S which I take to be London. As Henry and Sarah Ann Gillman were married at the Stroud Register Office in 1881 could Henry not have been truthful about his age for some reason - their first child was born one month after their marriage?. Would this have been the reason for a Register Office wedding? Henry's parents were married in the Primitive Methodist Chapel, Stroud, in 1860. I wonder if sometimes they omitted to register their childrens' births? I would be pleased to hear any comments/clues please. Margery

    3. Hi Margery, As others have pointed out on the 1881 census (which was taken 3rd April 1881) they appear as married and both aged 19. RG11/2345 Folio 92 Page 8 - Stroud He would have needed his parents' permission to marry before the age of 21 - so it was not unheard of for people to give their age as 21 or over to get over this obstacle.
