    3. Maurice, It looks as if his will is held at Gloucestershire Archives (www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/genealogy/Results.aspx). You can download an order form off the site and obtain a copy of it by post. I cannot find a James McCabe (or variants) in the 1841 census of Cheltenham, but there is this candidate in St Mary, Lambeth: HO107/1061/1, folio 47, page 20 Sutton St James MCCABE 40 Surgeon Born in county no There is also the death registration of a James MCCABE in the September qtr 1850 at Cheltenham reg district, vol 11, page 149 on FreeBMD which ties in with the date of 1850 on the will. Hope this helps. 3. Hello Maurice, Yes that is the only reference to McCabe in Gwen Hart's book. We can see that you have had a lot of helpful answers and the only thing we can add is that there is a marriage of a James McCabe in the Dec quarter of 1841 Gloucester 11 449. You could always send for this certificate although we have no way of knowing whether this is your wife's ancestor or not. Unfortunately there were 4 different marriages on the same page, but this James McCabe's wife would have been either Sarah Glover, Amelia Hawkins, Harriet Lewis or Charlotte Venn. Good luck, Pat & Maurice Crewe ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maurice Brown" <emanjay@infogen.net.nz> To: <gloucester@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 22, 2007 8:18 AM Subject: Re: [GLS] McCabe > Hi folks, > > THanks indeed for that.
