    3. Keith, I don't know if you have any census records, but in case not here goes: 1861 census of St. Briavels RG9/3981, folio 32, page 13 Schedule 40, Bream James WILLIAMS Head Mar 25 Coal Miner Gloucester St Briavels Caroline do Wife Mar 20 do Newland Elizabeth do Daur 1 do do They are living in the same house, but classed as a separate household, as a William WATKINS, aged 76, formerly Coal Miner, bon Newland and his wife Sarah, aged 84, born Newland, who is shown as Blind 3 years (Carolines grandparents maybe???). Next record down is: Schedule 41, Bream Richard WATKINS Head Mar 48 Coal Miner Gloucester Newland Eliza do Wife Mar 32 do Awre Richard do Son 12 Coal Miner do Newland Charles do Son 10 Coal Miner do do William do Son 8 Scholar do do Sarah do Daur 6 Scholar do do Harriet do Daur 4 Scholar do do Imogen? do Daur 2 do do Hannah do Daur 2 mo do do Joseph? WILLIAMS Boarder Un 40 Woodman Lab do Alveston? And this looks like James in the 1851 census of St George, Bristol: HO107/1953, folio 521, page 23 Schedule 83 William WILLIAMS Head Mar 43 Painter St Georges Glo Sarah do Wife Mar 40 Bitton do Mary Ann do Daur 19 St Georges do James do Son 15 Errand Boy do do Edwin do do 13 do do Matilda do Daur 11 Scholar do do George do Son 8 do do do Samuel do do 6 do do do John do do 2 do do Frederick do do 1 month do do And Caroline: HO107/2444, folio 18, page 4 Bream Richard WATKINS Head Mar 35 Coal Miner Gloucester Newland Elizabeth do Wife Mar 26 do Awre Caroline do Dau 10 Scholar do Newland Richard do Son 3 do do Charles do Son 1 do do Could Caroline's mother have died and Richard married again - there does seem to be quite a gap between Caroline and the next child. I can't find Caroline on the 1841 and Richard is living with William and Sarah WATKINS in Newland. Hope this helps anyway.
