    3. Hello all I have been looking at the 1841 via findmypast.com and for some entries I have found 'Cheltenham Union' and then an address as High Street. Does this mean the workhouse, which I did not think was in the High Street, or if not, can someone explain please? Pauline Tamworth, Staffs

    3. The Union Workhouse has its own enumeration book/district in 1841 Its location is between St Paul's Rd and Back St ( Swindon Rd) If you can give an example I'll look up the image and see if I can confirm the Union / High St location East of London FHS member All e'mail scanned by McAfee virusscan

    3. This is NOT the Workhouse but a quirk of the original entry where the Superintendent Registrars District has been entered as "The Cheltenham Union" meaning that the district comes within the area covered by the Cheltenham Registration District which was the same as the Cheltenham Poor Law Union District Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pauline Roberts" <secserve@wilnecote.fsbusiness.co.uk> To: <GLOUCESTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 08, 2007 12:52 PM Subject: [GLS] 1841 census query > Hello all > > I have been looking at the 1841 via findmypast.com and for some entries I > have found 'Cheltenham Union' and then an address as High Street.
