Hi Ann, If you can find him in the 1851 Census it might give you a clearer picture of where he was born. Hello Ann, According to the 1841 census of Edge, Painswick where Ancestry has transcribed him as TILLING (HO107/349/7, folio 8, page 10), Isaac was not born in the county of Gloucestershire, although his wife and children were. The Gloucestershire Burial Index also shows his surname as TILLING and there are the following TILLINGs from Edge who were buried at Painswick: 20 May 1832 John TILLING of Edge, aged 39 29 January 1835 Judith TILLING of Edge, aged 78 28 May 1839 Mercy Anna TILLING of Edge, aged 5 10 September 1844 Isaac TILLING of Edge, aged 49 18 March 1847 Henry TILLING of Edge, aged 57 There are 3 references on the Gloucestershire Archives searchable database, one for Isaac TELLING, father, Mason, one for Mary Ann TELLING f MEREDITH, mother and the last for Mary Anna TELLING, child all dated 1834 and all shown as Non-Conformist - perhaps relating to the baptism of Mary Anna?? There is a member submitted baptismal record at Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire (which is not too far from Painswick) of an Isaac TELLING on 6 April 1794, father James, mother Mary - perhaps worth consideration and another avenue to explore. Hello Janet I have Isaac,s death certificate and sometimes the spelling was Telling or Tilling. I have details of tilling/telling in Ashton Keynes and I did spot the Isaac born to James and Mary, but for some reason I was sure that wasn't the one. but perhaps I had better think again. as I have gone off in all other directions with no success. I know on the 1841 census there was a W in the space of where born was.. Thank you for your help. I am very grateful Ann from Essex ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet Booth" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, December 08, 2008 11:48 AM Subject: Re: [GLS] TELLING > Hello Ann, > > According to the 1841 census of Edge, Painswick where Ancestry has > transcribed him as TILLING (HO107/349/7, folio 8, page 10), Isaac was not > born in the county of Gloucestershire, although his wife and children > were. > The Gloucestershire Burial Index also shows his surname as TILLING and > there > are the following TILLINGs from Edge who were buried at Painswick: > > 20 May 1832 John TILLING of Edge, aged 39 > 29 January 1835 Judith TILLING of Edge, aged 78 > 28 May 1839 Mercy Anna TILLING of Edge, aged 5 > 10 September 1844 Isaac TILLING of Edge, aged 49 > 18 March 1847 Henry TILLING of Edge, aged 57 > > There are 3 references on the Gloucestershire Archives searchable > database, > one for Isaac TELLING, father, Mason, one for Mary Ann TELLING f MEREDITH, > mother and the last for Mary Anna TELLING, child all dated 1834 and all > shown as Non-Conformist - perhaps relating to the baptism of Mary Anna?? > > There is a member submitted baptismal record at Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire > (which is not too far from Painswick) of an Isaac TELLING on 6 April 1794, > father James, mother Mary - perhaps worth consideration and another avenue > to explore. > > HTH > > Janet > > >> Hi there, >> I am still looking for the birth place and parents of a Isaac Telling. >> he married Mary ann Meredith and they lived in Painswick (1841) he died >> in 1844.he was born around 1800, would be grateful for help. >> Ann from Essex > > _____________________________________________ > > Have you considered adding "postems" to "your" events on > www.freebmd.org.uk , giving your contact details?
