    2. Hi Liz,Thank you for the answer to my email.I found the Baptism Dates for the children of Benjamin & Hannah Ballinger on the Forest-of-Dean website. The only mistake I made in sending my email was that Joseph Ballinger was baptized in Minsterworth on the 15th February 1807 along with his brother Samuel and not in Churcham. The reason I am querying this family is that a few member`s on Genes Reunited have added them to my family tree by marrying this Benjamin a second time to my 3x Gt Grandmother Elizabeth Causon.I do not think this is true and am trying to prove it. I do want to thank you though for the time you have taken in looking at the Parish records for me.This is not easy from Kent. One thing I did not realise is that Churcham & Minsterworth were on opposite sides of the Severn. How difficult was it to cross over then. With regards Rita [nee Ballinger].

    3. Hi Rita Minsterworth and Churcham are NOT on different sides of the River Severn, they are both on the north side of the river. Minsterworth is actually on the north bank of the river and Churcham is about 1 mile further north east of it. Talking to a colleague at the record office yesterday (we both undertake FH research there) she said 'The problem with the Ballinger/Ballengers is that so many of them were illegitimate!' - so be warned! The Forest of Dean website is a wonderful resource and, to a lesser extent, so is Genes Reunited but you can't beat using the actual records. Anything that has been transcribed is prone to errors and the more input from amateur family historians such as on GR, the worse it gets! Anyway, good luck with your research - I am going to be otherwise occupied for the next week as my 97 year old father is having an operation tomorrow but if I can help again for a quick lookup, let me knopw. Best wishes Liz _______________________________________________ Elizabeth Jack Hidden Heritage: www.hidden-heritage.co.uk Researching BLINKHORNE, SOSBE, GWINNETT GFHS Journal Editor -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: 02 October 2008 10:49 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [GLS] Query-Ballinger`s-and Parish Records.
