    3. Richard There was a Richard Lemon in Tetbury c1796 when he had his daughter Mary christened [Parish Register entry]. Wife was Mary. I have no more information than this. Somewhere in my records I also have a reference and copy of the article relating to two shoemakers named Lemon, from Tetbury. At the moment I can't find the article but think it was c.1820s. When I track it down I will give you more detail. Are either of these any use to you? Lynne Richard Carruthers a.k.a. 3. Further to the earlier email I have now found the article which appeared in The Times 30 May 1838, and related to two travelling shoemakers, father & son [age 16] by the name of Lemon. They were apprehended after stabbing a policeman at the Redcliffe House, Bristol with a shoemakers knife. They had been living on the Staplehurst Road for 5 months prior to the incident. 3. Hi Phil, It turns out that Smith LEMON married Elizabeth COLE or COLES at Cheltenham on 27 Feb. 1783 (IGI). Their children were Mary Ann LEMMON (sic) baptised 2 Feb. 1785 at Ampney St Peter and John Smith LEMON baptised 5 Jan. 1791 at Cricklade St Sampson, Wilts. Mary Ann LEMMON the daughter married John SADLER of Bentham, Purton, Wilts. (brother of my ancestress Mary SADLER, Mrs Richard PLUMMER of Purton and Shaw, Lydiard Tregoz, Wilts., and of several others including James SADLER of Weyhill and Fort Morison Plantations, Jamaica, who married Lucy KIBBLEWHITE, sister of James KIBBLEWHITE, aka the lawyer "Kibble-black" who was radical MP for Cricklade, and Samuel SADLER, gent., of Arle Court, Cheltenham, and Purton, Wilts., who married Ann COLSTON, wife of Thomas Packer BUTT, Esq., who bought Arle Court in 1797) at Cricklade St Sampson on 10 Nov. 1807 and died 1871 in Cricklade. Her children were Mary Ann SADLER baptised 13 Dec. 1810, Purton, Wilts. and John Lemmon Cowles SADLER, of Ruislip, Middlesex also baptised 13 Dec. 1810 at Purton. The latter married Elizabeth Mary LARGE, youngest sister of my great-great grandfather, William LARGE (1805-1871) who married Mary Ann PLUMMER, daughter of the abovenamed Mary SADLER, Mrs Richard PLUMMER. William and Mary Ann left Lydiard Millicent, Wilts. for the Canadas (Metcalfe township, Middlesex county, Canada West, now Ontario) in 1852, but Elizabeth Mary LARGE, Mrs J.L.C. SADLER, stayed in England and had six known children. One of the youngest was Elizabeth Mary SADLER (1848-1925) who married "beneath herself" to Edwin Jethro NUTMAN, as the online biography of her grandson, the late Phillip Sadler NUTMAN, F.R.S. (1914-2004) details http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:yS3clv3fTdwJ:publishing.royalsociety.org/media/bio_mems/Nutman%2520press.pdf+%22phillip+sadler+nutman%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=ca Dr NUTMAN, my 3rd and 4th (and other) cousin once removed, claimed in his personal record at the Royal Society that he had found connexions to Edward JENNER and the MASKELYNE family and thereby an extraordinary concentration of Fellows of the Royal Society to whom he was connected (related?). I am interested to see what these may be, so I am following up on all lines of his ancestry for that reason, and because it is always interesting to try to complete ancestor tables for my kin (because so often they end up marrying back into the family).Richard > Date: Sat, 11 Oct 2008 13:11:47 +0100> To: [email protected]; [email protected]> From: [email protected]> Subject: Re: [GLS] Lemon families in Gloucerstershire> > Hello Richard,> > "The answers a Lemon"> > In the IGI, we have a Lemon family, whose parents > seemed to have moved around somewhat.> > Richard & Mary LEMON had the following family> > Elizaberth Mary LEMON bapt. 22 Dec 1793 Shipton Moyne> > john LEMON bapt. c. 16 Jun 1793 Shipton Moyne> > Mary LEMON bapt. 02 Apr 1796 Tetbury> > Then a "job lot" all bapt on 06 Nov 1821 as > teenagers in Hawkesbury as follows (four for the price of one?)> > Richard LEMON born 05 Jan 1800> > Sarah LEMON born 02 Aug 1801> > Ann LEMON born 05 Sep 1803> > Charlotte LEMON born 19 Apr 1805> > HTH> > Phil> Orpington, Kent> > > > > > hers a.k.a.
