Dear Tony, I have been researching the Dowdeswell family for quite a few years now. I am decendant of Sarah Dowdeswell who was born in 1844 in Glos. I checked but I don't have any recent (early 1900's) information but I can tell you that William is definately a family name. If you would like further information let me know.
