    1. Re: [GLS] Death Certificate for WW1 Casualties
    2. Hi all, Can anyone help me? Philip James Newman Marmont born 1884 in Sussex (his father came from Chepstow), served in the first World War and died in Rouen on the 7th November 1918 and is buried in Rouen Military Cemetery. My question is, where would his death be registered as I would like to get hold of his death certificate? Would it be in France? Or with the Commonwealth War Commission office perhaps? Regards Diana

Find his death in the War Dead on www.findmypast.com and order the certificate through the GRO in the normal way. It'll cost 7GBP the same as any other. Just follow the instructions but remember the reference won't be in the same format as you'll be used to for normal BMDs. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ It probably won't tell you much other than he died of injuries received whilst in the service of His Majesty or words to that effect.
