Hi All I am trying to put together a definitive list of all the nonconformist churches, chapels and meeting houses that have existed or still do exist in Gloucestershire and Bristol. I hope eventually to cover the name, location, parish, religion, date formed, date ended, date demolished, grid reference, source, what records exist and where - and anything else I can think of. It is a mammoth task - I already have over 600 names but I guess some are duplicates. I have used a variety of sources so far. I would appreciate any help or advice that you can give. The current list is on my developing website at: http://www.hidden-heritage.co.uk/nonconformists/ Please take a look and let me know of any errors, omissions, duplications, etc.. I have a long way to go ....... Hi Liz I am not completely certain how I have got onto this site and am receiving e mails from it but noticed your interest in the name of Gwinnett. In this months copy of Your Family Tree no 69 on page 97 there is an article under Seeking, for Tonks and I noticed that one of the persons referred to is a Thomas Gwinnett Tonks (c1829- 1907) baptised in Dudley Worcs and lived in Shoreditch/ West Ham . Tonks was a brass finisher and his father William Tonks was also . The item is from Matthew Jones [email protected] full address is given. I am looking for the christenings of Joseph Baylis SKEATES and for christenings of his siblings. His likely parents are Robert SKEATES and Esther BAYLIS who were married 31 Jan 1825 in Christ Church, Bristol, Gloucester, England. When he was married in 1853 at Holy Trinity, St. Philip, Bristol, his father was listed as Robert Skeates, Accountant. In that same year, Robert Skeates was the Church Warden. In the 1851 and 1861 census, he said that he was born in Bristol, St James. I have looked at the film for Bristol, St. James for the time period and found only one or two entries, and they were not for his family. Any assistance in this search would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Carolyn Harmon
