I have just rechecked the archives. Most of the emails result from a thread I started in about February 2007 when I was looking for more information about John Beard, son of Sarah and Brice Beard. Elizabeth Jack supplied the information about John Beard's first marriage to Ann Lury which proved to be the breakthrough I was looking for. As that marriage took place in a Quaker meeting house it was well documented, including the names of his parents. I even managed to find Ann (Lury) Beard's will in the Bristol Archives in which she lamented the fact that her husband might not be able to inherit - having been shipped out to NSW for life. I am afraid my ancestor, John Beard, was a bit of a conman.
