In the 1911 Census for 29 St Catherine St, Gloucester I have the following: William Portlock, 40, born Gloucestershire Jane Portlock, wife, 44, married 16 years, born Tewkesbury William Portlock, son 14, born Gloucester Dorothy Portlock, daughter, 16, born Tewkesbury Olive Whitten love child, 2, born Painswick. The record states that William and Jane had been married 16 years, have had 2 births and both children were alive (presumably William and Dorthoy). All the information is written in the same hand, that of W Portlock. I have never seen a reference to a love child. On the transcription the child's name has been transcribed as CHILD, Olive Whitton Love I am trying to find out if this child is the child of William or of Dorothy but have been unable to find a record. If someone could give me pointers of where to look it would be appreciated. Thank you - June
