My GGG Grandfather, Joseph Russell was born in 1785 at Colne Rogers and married Hannah Howes/House from Coln St Aldwyns in 1814. His father was John Russell, born 1758 in Quenington who married Joyce Butler in 1784. Does anyone have any further information about these families? Peter Russell.

Hello Peter >From GFHS Baptismal Index: 3 Feb 1815 at Coln St Aldwyns Richard RUSSEL son of Joseph & Hannah, Labourer As Joseph & wife Hannah are in the 1841/51 census records of Bibury & Joseph still there in 1871 shown as a widower, these would appear to be the baptisms of their other children: 11 Nov 1821 at Bibury Jesse RUSSELL son of Joseph & Hanah, Labourer 10 Dec 1826 at Bibury George RUSSELL son of Joseph & Hannah, Labourer There is also a Robert RUSSEL, son of Joseph & Hannah, Labourer, baptised at Cranham on 16 April 1819 - perhaps a possibility? There is a burial at Bibury (source Gloucestershire Burial Index) of a Joseph RUSSELL on 20 August 1868, aged 83, which would appear to fit in very well with the census info. GFHS Marriage Index confirms the marriage of Joseph RUSSELL and Hannah HOWSE on 19 Feb 1814 at Coln St Aldwyns by banns. Hugh Wallis's IGI site shows the baptism of a Hannah HOWSE at Coln St Aldwyn on 18 Dec 1785, parents John & Hannah HOWES.
