Hello Graham, There are these burials at Newent (source Gloucestershire Burial Index) which could perhaps be connected in some way to the COWMEADOW family: 18 January 1814 at Newent William COWMEADOW, Newent Town, aged 74 31 May 1820 at Newent Thomas COWMEADOW, Newent Gorsley, aged 88 16 December 1837 Thomas COWMEADOW, Newent Town, aged 63 There is also this burial of a Joshua DREW on 21 February 1821, Newent Poor House, aged 60. There are the following COWMEADOW marriages on Gloucestershire Marriage Index pre 1800 (these mostly are marriages which do not appear on Phillimores Marriage Index): 6 October 1746 at Whitminster Thomas COWMEADOW & Sarah BIRT, Longney 6 May 1792 at St Mary de Crypt, Gloucester William COWMEADOW, Newent & Eleanor WALINGTON, by licence 21 May 1771 at Longney Thomas GRIFFITHS & Elizabeth COWMEADOW, by licence There are also the following Monumental Inscriptions in Newent churchyard (source Biglands MIs): Thomas DREW died July 1771, aged 77 Jane his wife died 24 Nov 1764, aged 77 John COWMEADE died 2 April 1739, aged 61 Alexander COWMEADOW died 12 August 1762, aged 44 Thomas HOLDER sen died 23 Oct 1729?, aged 68 Jane his wife died 8 September 1722, aged 59 According to Hugh Wallis's IGI site, there is a baptism at Newent on 31 March 1756 of a Mary COWMEADOW, daughter of Alexander & Mary, so perhaps the Alexander buried above is Mary's father?? It might also be worthwhile looking at Gloucestershire Archives Genealogical Database search (ww3.gloucestershire.gov.uk/genealogy/Search.aspx) as there are a few Newent COWMEADOW (and variants) wills plus one for a Joshua DREW, Yeoman, of Newent, which was proved in 1786.
