I recognised the name SOUTHCOTT but it was Devon born Joanna SOUTHCOTT and she was somewhat earlier - like 100 years earlier almost! > I'm grateful for your help. The Bristol Mercury (Bristol, England), Saturday, October 23, 1841; Issue 2693 Mary Southcote (sic), 30, was found guilty on two indictments of stealing, at Cheltenham, a quantity of plate and jewellery, the property of her master, Walter Carey, and was sentenced to a fortnight’s hard labour for the first offence, and to seven years’ transportation for the second.
