Hello All; Now that I have managed, after 17 years or so, to collect photos of my direct ancestors I am on the hunt for photos of the Ships that they came across the Atlantic to Canada on. Is there a web site, shop in England or British Ships Archives where I can order a copy? I have Googled and wasn't successful. Thanks Glen A. Yearsley

For general sites or by the ship's name? If the latter, it's possible there isn't an image available. These sites could be worth a try: www.nmm.ac.uk/ (National Maritime Museum) www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ www.old-merseytimes.co.uk/Emigrationmain.html and www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/ London, Southampton and Plymouth were also departure points as well as Bristol and Liverpool. It cold be worth joining the London or Middlesex, Hampshire, Devon and Lancashire lists. Someone on them may know of local sources not available online or nationally. There are images available for the ships Glen wants. All he has to do is put "postcard""Empress of Britain" or "postcard" "Empress of Ireland" into Google. -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com
