    3. Carolyn, The Gloucestershire BMD index > Gloucestershire BMD Index 1837 to 2005: > http://ww3.gloucestershire.gov.uk/bmd/ shows two children born in the Cirencester district with the father NICHOLLS and the mother LUDLOW. Both children are unnamed, but the ages fit the 1851 census. Elizabeth was with her parents at Brimsfield in the 1841 census with siblings Samuel aged 7 and John aged 5. Brimsfield was in the Cirencester Registration District, so that checks. I can't help with the baptisms of Elizabeth and Mary Ann, but Samuel and John were both baptised at the same time at Miserden in 1835. So all baptisms were late, and I suspect Elizabeth and Mary Ann were registered born as unnamed because they had not been baptised. Many believed children were not named properly until they had been baptised. As they were living in Brimpsfield when Elizabeth and Mary Ann were born, they probably wanted their children to be baptised in Miserden and so that had to wait until they were able to get there.
