    1. Re: [GLS] William Thomas and Elizabeth Beard of Leonard Stanley
    2. Janet Booth
    3. Hello Joan, I'm not sure how much help this will be to you, but this looks like your Alexander jnr in the 1841 census of Leonard Stanley: HO107/370/5, folio 6, page 8 Marsh Richard BEARD 65 Labourer Born in county yes Sarah COLEMAN 65 yes Alick THOMAS 1 yes And an Elizabeth THOMAS, aged 70, F.S., born in the county, is living in the household above, that of a George ALDERWICK, Clothworker. None of which helps to solve your problem I'm afraid. There is a death registration for an Alexander THOMAS in the September qtr 1840, vol 11, page 33, at Stroud registration district (includes Leonard Stanley) and if this is the correct death certificate it might hopefully give his age at death which could make tracing his birth/baptism a little easier. There is a baptism on the IGI of an Alexander THOMAS 8 January 1766 at Chipping Sodbury (not too far from Leondard Stanley) which could be a candidate. Sorry not to be of more help. 3. Hi My Stevens line starts with Mary Stevens she was married to Daniel Dier/Dyer 12 Jan 1720/21 They had one child Sarah born 21 Feb 1721/22 in Wickwar. Mary died 10 March 1721 in Wickwar. Mary was born in Dursley. I think that her parents were William Stevens and Elizabeth Howlett who were married in 1696 in Cam. Peter Hughes sent me his extractions. I had some of them but not all the deaths etc that he had. The family seem to have had a lot of children die young. I don't have anything more about this family as yet. Sarah is the only descendents of Mary Stevens and Daniel Dier. I haven't research any of Mary's siblings a lot of them seem to have died. I would very much like to know more about the Stevens family. their occupation history etc. if possible. They continue to tie into my Dyer, Hollister, Hart, Stephens, Yewen, and Smith lines. In answer to David Jones. I think that my Dyer line comes originally from Westbury on Trym and ties into some of the Somerset families. Also my Hollister line is in Yate, Wickwar etc. Any tie ins are important to me. I would like to know something of the later descendants of those families also if possible. Regards Carolyn

    3. Hi , I've just arrived from the Worcester List upon discovering that my William Thomas, a stonemason, who had a son Alexander in 1840 in Bromsgrove was originally from Leonard Stanley, Glouc. I know this because after young Alexander was orphaned abt 1842 he appears in 1851 living with his aunt Hester Alderwick and grandmother Elizabeth Thomas who is in her 70s in 1851. I have now found that Elizabeth BEARD from Gloucester married Alexander Thomas also from Gloucestershire in1792 in Kingswood, Wiltshire, and I think this is the same as the above Elizabeth THOMAS. Why they went there to marry I don't know , but Elizabeth and Alexander then appear in the St. Swithins records in Leonard Stanley having several children there. However, there is no William born to them there. William's mother was definitely Elizabeth and since he named his son Alexander, I assume his father is probably the Alexander Thomas married to Elizabeth Beard. Can any kind soul help me find where William THOMAS was born or christened circa 1810?? I also would like to know where Alexander who married Elizabeth Beard was born. There was a Richard and Mary THOMAS in Leonard Stanley in the 1860s and 1850s, but no child named Alexander born to them on the IGI. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Joan Ottawa

If so I have a little information on the family of Noah Thomas Dyer Hayward c1799-1854 who seems to have been known as Thomas Dyer - all his children had the surname Dyer. If you have any thing on him or his wife Caroline Colchester, I would be most interested. If you are interested in finding out more about Thomas, please just ask.
