Hello Keith. You may already have this. In 1841 Ann MUSTOE aged 49 is at Sherborne Street with three sons Daniel aged 20, Anthony aged 18 and John aged 14. In 1851 Daniel MUSTOE is at King Street and has daughter Sarah Ann aged 8. Let me know if you don't already have them. Cheers, Fee
Hello Fee Thank you for your reply & for your 'on the spot' description. I had a look at Multimap & I also found a map of Wotton in 1889 and from a comparison between the two it looks like Knapp Rd was originally Sinwell Lane and it must have extended up to where it is known as Synwell Lane today. The village of Sinwell looks like it was located in a large "V" at the interesection of Knapp Road and Synwell Lane. I wonder when the spelling was changed to Synwell? Thanks to your help I can now place the area of Sinwell and where it is in relation to other areas. Thank you for your offer of photos but there are many photos of Wotton on the net which will suffice for my needs. Best wishes Kerrie . > I was at Wotton under Edge last week and walked up Synwell Lane. >
Hi Peter I live in Bristol, & I know there is a Winsford Street in St Judes, which is not a huge distance from Pip'nJay church, but Im not sure if its the right one. A lot of the area around the church was bombed & rebuilt after WWII. Hi Listers, I wonder if anyone has an idea as to where I can look for Duncombe and Sarah COPNER, my 4xgreat grandparents. Duncombe Davis COPNER married Sarah, date and place unknown, and they had 4 children baptised in English Bicknor - Eliza Maria 1800, Ann 1803, William 1806, Thomas 1809. Duncombe was buried at English Bicknor 15 July 1810, Thomas having been buried a few weeks earlier. Duncombe's age at burial wasn't given and I have been unable to find any baptism or marriage for him. After she was widowed Sarah seems to disappear; I haven't found a burial or re-marriage in English Bicknor or Coleford (Eliza Maria moved here after her marriage). As I don't have a birthplace, age or marriage date for either Duncombe or Sarah I haven't enough information to go forwards or backwards with either of them. I'd be very grateful for any ideas you might have as to where I could look for this couple's origins etc. Regards, Ellie
Would appreciate any help with the following: My great great grandfather is William Harper born in Foleshill Warwickshire. He married Ann ? and they had children Albert - my great grandfather (born 1850 in Middlesex) and Sarah Jane Harper (born 1859 born in Bristol). The 1851 census shows the family in Coventry The 1861 census: William Harper, 42, silversmith Ann Harper 42, silk weaver Albert Harper, 13, scholar, born Middlesex Sarah Jane Harper, 2, born St Michael, Bristol The 1871 census shows: William Harper, head, married, 53, electro plater and gilder, Warwickshire, Coventry Ann, wife, married, 53, born Nuneaton Sarah J, daughter, unmarried, 12 born Bristol Gloucestershire I have a birth certificate for Albert Harper, born July 1849 in Middlesex, son of William Harper and Ann Harper formerly Ball. William is a Watch Gilder. I am trying to find the birth of Sarah Jane to prove that I have the correct Ann Harper (Ball) but have been unable to find her birth. Would appreciate any help. Thank you June

Dear Listers Could SKS tell me where Sinwell is? I have copied a map of WUE from the council website but it doesn't mention Sinwell but I think it would be somewhere close to the middle of town. My husband's family the PARSONS lived there and I'd like to know where in relation to the church etc it was located. Many thanks Kerrie Australia
Hello Joan and Fee, my apologies I supplied the wrong information about the 1851 census. Living at 3 Halls Court at the time was, Ann Mustoe aged 60. John Mustoe son aged 25. No Sarah Ann as stated. I searched the area for a surname of Avery but no luck ( perhaps he had a bicycle). The year Frederick was born there was a census, living in the house where he was born at 3 Sherbourne Street was Joseph Archer Head aged 51 Phobe Archer aged 47. George Archer aged 19. At this stage one can only guess. Being in my 70`s it is keeping the grey matter working, I wish you all happy searching, Best regards Keith _________________________________________________________________ Txt a lot? Hello Kerrie. I was at Wotton under Edge last week and walked up Synwell Lane. If you go to www.multimap.com and search for Wotton under Edge, when the map comes up you can see Synwell as an area and if you zoom in you can see Synwell Lane. I'm rather fond of Wotton and go there from time to time so if you would like me to take any photo's for you, let me know. Cheers, Fee, Bristol > Could SKS tell me where Sinwell is?
