    3. Thank you, Elizabeth, for your response. Could I ask you, though, to please check the date you have for Luke CHURCH (Appr. of Ric.Evans) - my Luke would have been 37 years in 1775. I find the Ric. Evans an interesting connection - the wife of Luke CHURCH, Ann JEYNES was the daughter of (William) JEYNES and Marth EVANS, a sister of a Richard EVANS (although according to his Will (1780) he was an ironmonger - I wonder if this Ric. could possibly have been his father. 3. Hi Dorothy The book definitely says 1775 16 Jan and it is all in chronological order so must be correct. Perhaps this is another Luke Church, another generation? There are other Churchs in the book but those were the only Luke entries. 3. Hi Dorothy 'A Calendar of the Registers of the Freemen of Gloucester 1641-1838' has: 1818 Jun 19 Jas. Luke Church, mariner, son of Luke, flaxdresser, decd. And 1775 Jan 16 Luke Church (Appr. 3. Hi Steve, I had a go at this for you, but there are too many Mary Ann HARRIS' to narrow it down. While you may know where St. John the Baptist Church is, I don't. Can you give me a town/city? Is she a widow or does she have a husband? If the latter, what is her husband's name? Get back to me and I'll have another look. I have the HARRIS surname in Bristol if that's where she is. 2. Hi You state that George Henry Hyde was the son of Charles Hyde, but the entry for his marriage on the IGI states his father as Henry Hyde. The 1861 census would appear to put him with Henry and Selina Hyde and 3 siblings in Rodborough, the 1851 has him with Selina Hyde and a sibling lodging in Bisley. can you confirm that this information is correct thanks Tony *********************************************************** I am researching Charles Hyde, parish of Bisley, & his wife Sarah (nee Arundel), married 11 May 1811 in Minchinhampton. Their son George Henry Hyde emigrated in 1874 with his wife Emily (nee Bishop from Stroud) and a child who must have died on the voyage as he is not alive when they settled in Pukehou, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand in 1875. George had 11 siblings who do not appear to have emigrated with him so I am hoping that some of the extended family are still in Gloucester. George is my gg grandfather. Is there anyone else researching this family, or does anyone have any ideas as to how I would find out information about the Hydes of Bisley, Stroud, Rodborough etc. ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.virginmedia.com/email Virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software and scanned for spam

    3. Hi Dallas I have one ancestor transported in 1837 after his conviction at the Assizes in Gloucester. The original court records are at the National Archives in Kew. I went there about 18 months ago and found the indictments and other documents - such as the recognizances for witnesses. I was able to get the indictments scanned as they were too large to photograph. Check the catalogue to find the reference. I believe the Quarter Sessions records are at the Gloucestershire Records Office. In all three cases I know the dates of departure for Australia, the names of the ships they were transported on, and where each was convicted but not exactly when they were convicted.
