    3. I recently have become the administrator of the GLENDAY,mailing list which I understand is for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the Glenday surname and variations (e.g., Glendey, Glendy, Glandee, Glendei, Glenny) in any place and at any time. I notice the list members are few. However are there any that like me are Glenny descendants. I would be interested in knowing about your research and your success and brick walls. Marilyn

    3. Hello Marilyn, I am a Glenday descendent, of one George , Miller and Baker who first appears in Sleaford, Lincolnshire in 1791. We are pretty sure that he was born in Glamis, Scotland and was baptised 25 July 1771 son of John GLENDY of Arnafoul. We think because his early years are shrouded in mystery. It is believed he married at Southwark Christchurch, Surrey in 1790 to an Anne MARTIN, but the only evidence of this is a reference in Pallots Marriage index. The original Registers were destroyed in WW2. Certainly Will evidence and Parish Register evidence in Sleaford does show George as having some connection with the Martin family. As for taking the line back, a big brick wall is that the Glamis Marriage Registers covering the period when John would have married appear to have been destroyed in an uprising. The name has been passed down as a forename through several lines, and most branches are in place, although there may be others out there. The only other reference to the Glenday name that I have seen in England seems to relate to a Captain who I think had Indian Military service connections, but is not a direct descendent of George. I hope your Brickwalls are a bit thinner than ours!
