Christina Glass was born in Germany, April 6, 1787 and died Nov. 21, 1880. She married three times, first to William Rupert ( from Holland) , then to Dunkle and lastly to Cribbs. William Rupert and Christina Glass ran away and were married somewhere near Philadephia. Both families opposed the marriage so they went to Ohio and never heard from either family afterward. The reason the families opposed the marriage was that at that time the Hollanders and the Germans were very bitter toward towards each other. The Rupert family was a very wealthy family and were engaged in shipping trade. William Ruperts father was a sea captain and had been given a grant of land in Ohio after the Rev. War. for service in the US. William and Christina went to Ohio with two horses and a cow. Later they moved to a farm near Canoe Ripple, Beaver twp, Clarion Cty. PA. It was here that Rupert died at 40. Christina later married Dunkle and had several more children. No issue with Cribbs. My great grandmother Margaret Zillifro Adams recorded this and as a little girl visiting her grandmother Rupert Logue and great grandmother Glass Rupert Dunkle Cribbs. Margaret asked grandmother Logue to thread her needle, Grandmother logue passed the needle to her mother. Margaret's sister in amazement said, " Why grandmother, haven't you learned to thread a needle yet?" Hope this is of some assistance. There are more stories recorded of Christina Glass, but little of her family. Margaret Anne Fortier
